Did you know that window collisions are one of the leading causes of bird deaths in North America? The good news is that homeowners can make a real difference — and it’s easier than you might think.

Join us at New City Library for a special program featuring the short film “Wild Hope: Building for Birds”, followed by a live demonstration of a simple, inexpensive way to prevent bird strikes at home.

🔹 What you’ll learn:

• Why birds collide with windows

• How reflections confuse birds during migration

• How to make Acopian BirdSavers — a simple DIY paracord solution that makes glass visible to birds

🔹 Live demonstration:

Sheean Haley, a scientist at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, will show how BirdSavers are made and share tips from installing 65+ BirdSavers on Lamont buildings.

These paracord “curtains” are affordable, easy to install, and very effective — perfect for homeowners who want to help birds on a budget.

🌿 Small changes at home can save birds.
