Join the Rockland Audubon Society for an engaging evening with Christine's Critters, a Connecticut-based nonprofit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of birds of prey.
Meet a live Peregrine Falcon, the fastest animal on Earth, along with a Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Northern Saw-whet Owl, and more. Hear the inspiring stories behind these permanently non-releasable birds and discover how they found a new purpose as ambassadors for wildlife conservation.
Through live bird presentations and a captivating multimedia slideshow, you'll be taken into the wild world of wildlife rehabilitation, where you'll discover what it takes to care for injured birds of prey, the challenges they face in the wild, and how these incredible ambassadors are helping inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Whether you're an avid birder, photographer, wildlife enthusiast, or simply curious about these magnificent birds, this interactive program offers a rare opportunity to experience them up close, ask questions, and gain a behind-the-scenes look at the work of a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center.
Christine’s Critters : About
Founded in 2015, Christine's Critters Inc. is a Connecticut-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured birds of prey and inspiring conservation through education. Founded by Christine Peyreigne, the organization grew from a lifelong passion for raptors that began when she became a licensed Apprentice Falconer while still in high school. Christine later earned a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2020 and is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, veterinary technician, and General Class Falconer.
Today, Christine's Critters provides rehabilitation care for more than 150 injured birds of prey each year and is home to a flock of 23 permanently non-releasable ambassador birds that help educate and inspire thousands of people annually. The organization is federally and state permitted through the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP), and is licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for educational programming.
Through live presentations, community outreach, and a growing social media presence, Christine's Critters is helping foster a greater appreciation for birds of prey while working toward their long-term vision of establishing a permanent wildlife rehabilitation and education center in Connecticut.
